This fall, the virtual band Gorillaz is blessing music fans with a rare North American trek titled Song Machine Tour, and you shouldn’t miss it! The rock band is set to traverse across the nation and perform 19 epic shows in major cities – and of course, a massive tour is not complete without a stop in Los Angeles! On Friday, 23rd September 2022, the Gorillaz touring band, which includes lead singer and primary songwriter and producer Damon Albarn, will be conquering the stage at the iconic arena, the Kia Forum. If you’re a fan of the Gorillaz, you better grab your tickets fast before it’s too late!
In 2001, the Gorillaz took the world by storm with their massive debut single, “Clint Eastwood.” The hit song preceded the band’s self-titled debut album, released in the same year. The music video showed cartoon character band members named Murdoc Niccals, 2-D, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. The single debuted at number 4 on the U.K. charts and performed moderately in the U.S. charts, peaking at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Gorillaz finally performed outstandingly in the U.S. charts with the band’s sophomore album, Demon Days. The album debuted at number 6 on the Billboard 200, with its lead single, “Feel Good Inc,” peaking at number 14 on the Hot 100.
After their second release, Gorillaz released several more highly-acclaimed albums, the latest being Song Machine, Season 1: Strange Timez. The 2020 album performed impressively on the U.K. and U.S. charts, peaking at numbers 2 and 12. This year, the band will release their forthcoming album, The Static Channel.
Gorillaz’s touring members include founder and singer Damon Albarn, who’s also known for his stint with English band Blur, Jesse Hackett and Mike Smith on keyboards, Karl Vanden Bossche on electronic drums, Jeff Wootton on lead guitar, Seye Adelekan on bass, Remi Kabaka on percussion, and Femi Koleoso on drums.
