Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, famously known as Daddy Yankee, is an award-winning Puerto Rican rapper. Ayala’s music style blends American hip-hop, Latin Caribbean, and reggae. His works jumpstarted the reggaeton genre – hence the title, King of Reggaeton. Daddy Yankee has enjoyed stellar success throughout his three-decade career. Today, he is one of the top-selling Latin artists of all time, selling more than 20 million records worldwide.

Daddy Yankee released his debut album, No Mercy, in 1995 via an independent record label. Daddy Yankee enjoyed moderate success for his first two records in his home country. It wasn’t until his third album, Barrio Fino, in 2004 that he was put on the world map. Barrio Fino’s hit single, “Gasolina,” entered the charts in 19 countries, including the United States. Daddy Yankee released five more studio albums, the last being Legendaddy, released in March 2022.

Daddy Yankee is a global superstar who has received an unbelievable number of accolades. He has won 148 awards, including several from the Latin Grammy Awards, the Billboard Latin Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Latin American Music Awards. Moreover, he has a total of 484 nominations. Daddy Yankee is also currently holding 10 Guinness World Records. He is the first Latin artist to peaked at number 1 on Spotify, and his massive hit single, “Despacito” with Luis Fonsi, was the first Youtube video to reach five billion views.

Daddy Yankee released his last ever studio album in March 2022, Legendaddy, which will be supported by the “La Última Vuelta World Tour.” In a statement, Daddy Yankee said: “Today, I’m announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and concert tour. I will say goodbye to celebrating these 32 years of experience with this new collector’s item, my album Legendaddy. I’m going to give you all the styles that have defined me in one single album,” Daddy Yankee said in a statement.
