Mana is one of Mexico’s top-selling and most prominent bands. The group emerged in 1981 and has released 31 singles and nine studio albums. The band has ten number 1 singles on U.S.’s Latin charts, and 5 number 1’s on Mexico’s chart. Mana’s music has become a worldwide sensation and has broken language barriers. They have sold over 40 million records worldwide, which grows daily. In 1981, the band was still promoted under the band name Sombrero Verde. They released their self-titled debut album that year, followed by their second album, A Tiempo de Rock, two years later.
By 1987, the band started going by the name Mana. They released their self-titled third album under Universal Music. In 1990, the band’s fourth album, Falta Amor, entered the U.S. Latin chart at number 27 and the Latin Pop chart at number 13. Five years later, Mana made their worldwide breakthrough with ¿Dónde Jugarán Los Niños? The 1992 album, which featured the critically-acclaimed track “Cachito” and their most famous hit, “Oye Di Amor,” earned a double diamond award in Mexico, a 12x platinum in the U.S., and multi-platinums in Spain, Chile, and Argentina. After this remarkable breakthrough, the band released several more platinum and diamond-certified albums, five of which charted at number 1 in the U.S.
